The team at The Tattoo Academy offer excellent training in the art of tattooing. The professionalism displayed by Mark, Mitch, and Jodee was second to none. They showed flexibility, patience and understanding in helping one of my clients in achieving his goal of successfully completing the course. There was extensive training in the techniques, application and styles of tattooing; however, more impressive was the significant amount of time dedicated to proper hygiene and contamination training. Mark and Jodee strive to achieve a balanced approach of fun interactive learning paired with the seriousness required for students to comprehend the importance of the meticulous procedures required to maintain safe and hygienic practices in the art of tattooing. If you are looking to learn how to do things right from start to finish, the tattoo Academy is the place for you. ~ Jeff Peters (Brain Injury Case Facilitator)

Before I enrolled at the Tattoo Academy I was somewhat skeptical learning how to tattoo at a school. The majority of responses that I heard or read about learning this way were negative. However, I’m in my early 30s and I didn’t have the time nor could I financially survive as a “shop b***h” for a year or two. I contacted a couple students by email who had previously attended the course for a reference. As a result, they both responded with glowing references about the faculty and the course. Their emails were inspirational! I enrolled in the October 2009 session and I think it’s the best decision I have ever made.

I was impressed with the amount of course material taught in such a short period of time. The instruction on tattoo history, the equipment, cross-contamination and sterilization and how to tattoo were all in depth and well taught. Mark is an extremely talented artist and teacher. He is supportive, patient, encouraging and genuinely wants his students leaving with confidence to enter the tattoo industry.

I left the Tattoo Academy not only with the knowledge of how to tattoo, but also a greater passion for this art form, confidence and new friendships.

Thanks guys! ~ Jen Wetmore

Attending The Tattoo Academy was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. This is not a "suck up", testimonial, I've paid my money and passed the course. This is a sincere letter of recommendation. I have been in the arts my whole life, and never received so much fair, unbiased and professional training as I did at The Tattoo Academy. My instructor (Mark) had no ego, (a rarity) and only a passion to teach about that in which he loves, the "Art of Tattooing." Everything is covered and in looking for work among shops after graduating, there are many which for me now, do not meet the standards which I have been taught. Sterilization, Cross contamination, passion and understanding for the art itself. The money spent for the course is easily worth what you take away in knowledge, (never mind the equipment) I've had shops say, "Oh, you've only done five tattoo's", then look at my work and say, "Wow, that's really good for your first five!" We were expecting something different. The other huge thing is that you are never abandoned. I flew out from Vancouver BC, and was helped with accommodations and a promise kept, that I could call them any time for support and follow up. Not once did I feel like; "We got your money, see you later." which I honestly kind of expected. With my heart and soul, I would recommend to anyone who is serious about this art; to not think twice about spending the nominal fee The Tattoo Academy charges to give you a career for life. I'm glad that shops are becoming open-minded enough to realize the strength of professional training and not just hanging on to the "sometimes", outdated, abusive or time wasting apprenticeships. Some apprenticeships are stellar, but embracing both schools of education can only help the whole industry flourish in a healthy way. Thank you Mark and Thank you Jodee, for a new start, a new life! ~ Guy Jellis

Getting into this course, I expected a lot and I received much more than I could have imagined. Mark and Mitch are both extremely talented and knowledgeable artists. Not only did they help me gain the confidence and hands-on experience I needed to do what I love, but they see the potential in their students and help them to grow. I now have the knowledge, skills, tools and most importantly, the confidence to succeed at doing what I'm passionate about. Considering the cost of admission, for what you gain from the course, they could be charging two or three times as much and it would STILL be way worth it. ~ Chris Cutway

First of all, I really would love to thank Jodee, Mark and Mitch for opening the coolest school ever! It's incredible how much information and training you receive in a few short weeks. At first I thought it was overwelming. Your so fascinated with everything, you soak it in like a sponge. Mark and Mitch's techniques and portfolios are mindblowing. You are being trained by people that know their @#&*! and years of experiance behind them, which is a huge plus. Jodee will open your eyes to sterilization. You will feel more at ease knowing you and your clients are clean and healthy when they leave. This school is every artists dream. I highly recommend it to anyone. Doors to freedom of creativity will open and the Tattoo Academy is the key.   Thanks again, I had a blast! ~ Sue Mitchell

Training with Mark and Mitch has not only made me a more competent artist, but a more confident one as well. I recommend this course to anyone who's serious about becoming an ink slinger, and have done so since graduation. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. ~  Jay Willis, Fleshworx

The Tattoo Academy is an excellent place for people interested in tattooing. It's a place where those motivated to succeed in the art will be educated, from the history behind tattoos to being sterile while working with people. While in class, I learned all aspects of the tattoo. The course offers history, depiction, classification, equipment knowledge, the cross-contamination process and sterilization. Oh yeah, and how to tattoo, of course! I gained a huge respect for the importance of being clean while working on someone through the Academy, and how to go about doing a tattoo the proper way.  ~ Andrew Beath

I enrolled in the summer course of 2007 with the Tattoo Academy. The three-week, full-day course was in-depth and covered all the basics. Mark is an excellent instructor; he is well educated in the art of tattooing and as a teacher. His portfolio speaks for itself -- the tatoos he has done are prestine. I found the course extremely educational (information, lessons and practical experience).  Mark is a hands on instructor and the passion for his work is evident. The atmosphere at The Tattoo Academy is fun and relaxing. There is also a working shop there which gives a student better insight on how the studies are related to the day to day operations. I can not say enough good things about the Tattoo Academy and their staff (Mark, Jodee and Mitch). Thanks to them I hope to have a long and successful career tattooing. ~ Jacqueline Sokol

The course was excellent.  It was just the launch I was looking for into the interesting world of tattoing.  Nothing better than good professionals to teach you the basics properly.  ~ Cory Birnie

Great teaching, supportive and encouraging staff...I really enjoyed the experience. The classes were a lot of work and a lot of fun. ~ Eli Fakaua

Taking the course at The Tattoo Academy was one of the greatest things that I ever did for myself. The course was extremely educational and professional, and I started tattooing professionally almost right away. I have been working at a studio full time now for almost a year. Thanks, guys!

I was amazed at the amount of information that was packed into this two-week program. I liked that the classroom only had five or six students in it, which made the instructors available to all of us on an independent basis as well. I would recommend this program to anyone who would like to learn all the aspects of becoming a tattoo artist. The Tattoo Academy takes a dream and turns it into a reality.
