What is the Academy like?
The Tattoo Academy is set up in a school atmosphere. The students are to attend every class to ensure success. It runs from 11AM to 6PM. With 45 minutes for lunch. Upon completion you will receive a certificate of accomplishment, all of the pictures taken during class and a grade report with constructive criticism.
Why not take an apprenticeship?
We simply offer a different way of learning. Our instructors make sure all of the required knowledge is transferred to ensure our students provide safe and clean tattoo experience. We cover a large amount of information and techniques in a short period of time. Apprenticeships are difficult to obtain and are usually loosely organized and time consuming. It may take two years before you touch a tattoo machine and are only taught anything when the artist has time to show you. Many of our students have been looking for a change in career and cannot waste time to learn over that extent of time while making very little money.
How long is the course?
Our course takes place over a three-week period and students are encouraged to come and use the facility for further instruction after they have graduated. They are always welcome back.
What is the success rate?
We are proud to say that we’ve achieved a 100% success rate.
Do we tattoo in class?
The students are required to complete a minimum of 5 tattoos during the course before they may graduate.
How many students per class?
Each class is a maximum of 5 students, which is important to properly observe each in an intimate environment. During the sterilization and technique sections there may be 2 instructors per 5 students.
Are the instructors experienced?
Our instructors are successful shop owners with over 35 years of combined experience to back them up. On the premises is Lynyrd Skynart Tattoos. A fully functioning tattoo shop which favors the students as they can observe how a shop runs and watch instructors tattoo their clients as well.
Is there any placement upon graduation?
We have shops interested in our students, as sometimes they don’t want to spend 2 years to train new artists. So we can refer you to a shop.
What if I can’t provide any clients?
If you can’t provide clients to tattoo, we can provide them for you.
Do we get equipment?
Upon completion of the course you will leave with your kit, which is included in the price of the course. Approximately $1000.00 worth of gear. All of the equipment is of high quality from the best suppliers around. The equipment includes: Tattoo machine, power supply, needles, tubes, ink, ink caps, gloves, necessary barrier wraps, a cd containing a huge amount of flash and much more.
Where are you located?
We are located at 9 Albert St W. Thorold, Ontario L2V 2G1. Thorold is between St.Catharines and Niagara Falls Canada.
How do I enroll?
To enroll in our course we require a $500.00 deposit to secure a seat and give you a student number. Half of the payment is required 1 month prior to class so we may order the kits. The balance is due in full prior to the start of class. Click here to enroll now!
Do I have to be an artist?
You are not required to be an artist to take our course, although it does help to further your success as a tattoo artist. It is only required that you show up ready to learn and progress your skill whatever level you’re at.
Is there housing available?
Student housing is available at an additional $350.00 per week.
